Compared with USA, Opioid addiction is not wide-spread in Korea.
As for me I haven`t met any addicts so far, but often hear that some of TV stars are suffering from drug or anesthetic injection addictions and destroying their life.
The reason of low substance addiction in Korea is low medical expense based on good NHS with wide coverage. People go for medical check-up very often even with slight disorders and have treatment for it. so most of Koreans are not in need of such drugs which could lead to addiction.
The most effective way to prevent opioid addictions are monitoring/checking of health condition regularly and get treated disease in early stage(or at a proper/right time??) before the pain/symptoms get severe. people should be aware of that self-treatment taking painkillers for a long time would cause the drug addiction.
